Welcome to Kindergarten!

My name is Jaime Presley and this will be my 10th year teaching Kindergarten at Sharpsville.  I live in South Pymatuning with my husband and three kids.

Kindergarten is such an exciting time!  We have so much fun learning how to read, write, count, add and subtract! I am looking forward to the 2014-2015 school year. If you have any questions about Kindergarten, please call the school to reach me at extension 3111 or email me at [email protected]

Classroom Management

The first step in our Kindergarten classroom management system is parent communication.  When we have a partnership with the parents, we can work together to reach the same goal of doing what is best for all of our students.  Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns about your child.

Inside the classroom, we try to guide the students to make good choices by reinforcing positive behaviors through the use of a color chart.  In my classroom, the students start their day on the color green.  If they break a rule they are reminded of the rules one time and given a visual reminder to make better choices with a "stop card".  If the negative behavior continues, the student will receive a second stop card and then move from green to yellow. If the behavior continues, the students will then possibly move to orange, then red, depending on their actions.  The consequences for the behaviors are usually losing a privilege such as recess or eating snack with their classmates.   Parents will be notified of the child's end of the day color each day in the student's daily folder.

If the students are following the rules or directions the first time they are asked, or going "above and beyond" the expectations, they have the chance to move up on our color chart.  about green are the colors blue, purple, and pink.
If a student is on a color under green, they do have the chance to make better choices and move back up to green.
