Welcome to Kindergarten!

Welcome to kindergarten! My name is Sarah Barabas!

Kindergarten is a milestone in your child's life. It serves as a transition from preschool to primary school and is an important foundation for lifelong learning. During this year, your child will be establishing attitudes about education that will impact future
achievement. We will be learning many new concepts in lots of unique and different ways! Your child will learn new math and reading concepts and become awesome kid writers!
 :)

I would like to tell you a little about myself. I graduated from Sharpsville High School and went to Slippery Rock University. I have been teaching at Sharpsville for seven years and this is my third year teaching kindergarten. I currently live in Hermitage with my husband. I enjoy being at the beach, spinning class, and dunkin donuts iced tea! I love kindergarten and I am very passionate about teaching.

Please review sights words with your child each night. This includes the weekly sight words we learn, color words, and new words they might come across when reading. You can find an attached form of the sight words we use in kindergarten for the whole year.
Some ideas for sight word practice are:
write them on a dry erase board, make flashcards, make a game with flashcards, rainbow write (color over the words), use play dough or stickers to make the words, paint them using water onto a chalk board.
Thank you for all you do at home! :)
